ADRO® is digital signal processing strategies that aims to maintain comfort for all sounds and optimise the intelligibility of sounds in both quiet and noisy situations. It is suitable for both normally hearing and hearing impaired using amplification and communication devices.

Brief outline of initial concept:
The initial business concept was to take the unique ADRO® product to market by providing software for open platform hearing aids for manufacturers in Australia and overseas.

How did winning the competition assist the development of your product?
A track record of achievement has been established since winning the competition. Key members of the research team have commercialised the ADRO® concept funded by investors from Melbourne and Sydney. Dynamic Hearing continues to expand its customer base and last year received an R&D Start grant from AusIndustry which has contributed to the development of new products for communications industry.

Where is the product now?
The ADRO® product has been licensed to hearing aid manufacturers. A suite of add-on features, including an adaptive directional microphone, has been developed to enhance the benefit of the basic ADRO® processing strategy in more adverse acoustic environments and in a range of personal listening devices.

Where do you see the product in the next two years?
The ADRO® product together with its suite of add-on features will penetrate new markets and increase overall market share with hearing aids using digital signal processing hearing aids. The product range will include advanced signal processing for personal listening devices including headsets. Dynamic Hearing aims to be the leading provider of software solutions for audio processing devices and thus contribute significantly to the Victoria economy and Australian exports.
